Cowane’s Hospital is Scotland’s finest Guildhall owned by the oldest charity in the country, originally designed by Robert Mylne, the King’s Mastermason, has undergone radical alterations on many occasions.

The alterations required to give new life to the building were based on a thorough understanding of its significance resulting from the preparation of its Conservation Plan.

Discreet new services and flexibility are built in to allow for a wide variety of uses and include a mobile interpretative display.  The Main Hall has been redecorated and the Guildry pictures rehung, lit by sculptural geometric fittings.  The Hall is served by a catering kitchen and distinctive new accessible toilets.  Some of the superb original construction of the Wings has been revealed and the spaces well insulated.
