The Brief was to provide generous storage in a main principal room flat within a converted and sub-divided Category A Listed country house. The flat consisted of the large principal room with no minor rooms or storage cupboards. Lack of clothes storage was a serious issue.
The solution was to design a generous storage piece within the main principal room, in a sympathetic manner which is a light-touch and can be removed at a later date without harming the original building fabric & finishes. To maximise the use of the volume, two specially invented rolling clothes racks were designed to give easy access to the 'back of the spaces'. Antique carved doors give a visual focus and an illusion of age. Jib doors 'hide' other spaces.
