Signet Library - Edinburgh

Parliament Square

As appointed Architects to the Signet Library, the Practice has carried out many different projects, the largest and most complex of which has been the transformation of former bookstacks to provide contemporary seminar and arbitration rooms, offices and a catering kitchen, also used for outside functions.

The creation of a large light well overcame external windows not lining through with internal floors, whilst light fittings, ironmongery and carpets were specially designed.

Further projects focussed on accessibility: a new entrance, bespoke automatic doors, the creation of rest rooms, and unobtrusively inserting a 4 storey lift into the building.  Our role continues, advising on repairs and maintenance.
